




Australia Cricket team posted a consolation one-wicket win over Bangladesh Cricket team in their third and last One Day International (ODI) at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital’s Mirpur on Sunday. Connolly guided his team to overhaul the winning target. He hit a patient 149. His 134-ball innings was laced with six sixes and 13 fours. He was adjudged the Man of the Match.
Mosaddek Hossain was adjudged the Player of the Series for his consistent performance.
The Tigers clinched the ODI series 2-1.
Chasing Tigers’ total of 274 for the loss of five wickets in the stipulated 50 overs, the Aussies reached the winning spot making 277 for the loss of nine wickets when they had just three balls to spare.
Bangladesh had a disastrous start as opener Soumya Sarkar (2) was bowled out by Xavier Bartlett when Bangladesh’s score was just two.
Opener Tanzid Hasan and one-down Najmul Hossain Shanto mended the innings contributing together 51 runs in the second wicket stand before Tanzid Hasan (19) was caught at the mid-on by Riley Meredith off Matt Renshaw when Bangladesh’s total was 53 for the loss of two wickets.
After Tanzid’s dismissal, Shanto (24) was bowled out by Renshaw when the hosts’ score was 61 for the loss of three wickets.
After Shanto’s departure, Litton Das and Towhid Hridoy contributed together 92 runs for the third wicket partnership before Litton Das was retired hurt when the home side’s total was 153 for the loss of three wickets.
Litton Das remained unbeaten with 58 runs. His 78-ball innings was belted with four fours and two sixes. It was Litton’s 14th half-century in ODI cricket.
After Litton Das returned to the pavilion due to injury, Towhid Hridoy and Mosaddek Hossain put on together 93 runs for the fourth wicket partnership before Towhid Hridoy was caught at the deep midwicket by Alex Carey off Ben Dwarshuis when the Tigers’ score was 246 for the loss of four wickets.
Towhid Hridoy notched up a marvelous 83. His 88-ball knock was laced with eight fours.
After Hridoy’s dismissal, Mahedi Hasan (3) was caught at the cover by Cameron Green off Bartlett when Bangladesh’s total was 261 for the loss of five wickets.
Mosaddek Hossain remained unbeaten with 56 runs. He hit five fours and a sixer in his 51-ball innings. It was Mosaddek’s fifth half-century in ODI cricket.
Renshaw and Bartlett got two wickets each conceding 44 and 47 runs respectively.

After Carey’s departure, Cooper and Marnus Labuschagne built a remarkable partnership scoring together 64 runs in the four-wicket stand before Labuschagne (29) caught at the deep third-man by substitute Nurul Hasan off Shoriful Islam when the tourists’ total was 134 for the loss of four wickets.
Spinner Mahedi Hasan struck as Cameron Green (27) was caught & bowled by the spinner when Australia’s score was 202 for the loss of five wickets.
Oliver Peake’s (27) was caught at the cover by substitute Rishad Hossain off Shoriful Islam when the touring side’s total was 266 for the loss of six wickets.
Shoriful Islam hit again as Bartlett (0) was caught behind by substitute wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan off left-arm pacer when Australia’s total was 266 for the loss of seven wickets. Shoriful Islam fulfilled his five-wicket haul.
Shoriful struck as Dwarshuis was caught at the backward point by Mahedi Hasan off left-arm pacer when Australia’s score was 270 for the loss of eight wickets.
Mustafizur Rahman hit as Cooper was bowled out by the left-arm pacer when Australia’s score was 271 for the loss of nine wickets.
Adam Zampa and Riley Meredith helped their side to reach the winning target.
