



The widening and repair work of the Tenachira-Katakhali road in Chatmohar upazila of Pabna is currently underway. The road is one of the most important means of communication in the area, used daily by students, farmers, businessmen, and local residents.
After a long period of demand and hardship, development work on the road has finally begun, bringing hope to local people. Although some problems and complaints were raised during the implementation phase, the authorities quickly took steps to resolve them.
The project is being implemented with a focus on maintaining construction quality, including the repair of damaged road edges. It is being carried out at an estimated cost of around Tk 13 crore by Barendra Construction. When locals raised concerns about irregularities at different stages of the work, officials from the concerned department inspected the site and instructed the contractor to ensure proper execution. Monitoring activities have also been strengthened.
Upazila Sub-Assistant Engineer Md. Sirajul Islam said, “We are monitoring the work round the clock to ensure quality. There is no scope for irregularities.”
Upazila Engineer Enamul Kabir said, “The issues that arose are being addressed. The work is ongoing under proper supervision. If any problem is found, it will be resolved immediately. There is no scope for irregularities.”
During a field visit, it was observed that damaged edges in several sections of the road had been repaired. Construction materials are being used according to specifications under the supervision of Upazila Engineer Enamul Kabir to maintain quality standards. Questions raised about the quality of mortar used in the construction were addressed and the affected portions were removed.
Bitumen has also been properly laid during the road construction work. Adequate supervision has been ensured for the smooth implementation of the project.
Local residents expressed hope that the road construction, funded by public money, will be completed properly and without compromise in quality. They also demanded that the project be finished smoothly and on time.
