6 nations int’l handball tournament begins in Dhaka

The Men’s IHF Trophy (South-Central Asia Zone II) International Handball tournament will be held at the Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium, Dhaka .on June 11. Six nations: India, Nepal, Yemen, Maldives, Afghanistan and Bangladesh will be participation of this tournament. The teams will be divided into two groups in the U-20 category.

Group ‘A’ will feature India, Nepal and Yemen. Group ‘B’ will feature Maldives, Afghanistan and host Bangladesh.

The semi-finals will be held between the champions and runners-up teams of the two groups.

The final will be held on June 14. The matches in the Under-18 division will be played in a round-robin league format. The team with the highest points will be the champion.

On the occasion of the competition, Bangladesh Handball Federation organised a press conference at the auditorium of Bangladesh Olympic Association on Sunday.

Handball Federation Vice -President Dr. Abu Nasr Mohammad Abdullah, Mohammad Majnu Mollah, General Secretary Md. Salauddin Ahmed, Abdullah Al Mamun, Head of Marketing of the sponsoring company Dhaka Ice Cream Industries Limited, Kamrul Islam, Manager of the U-18 team, Mohammad Selim Mia, Manager of the U-20 team, and Rashida Afzalun Nesa, Tournament Coordinator were present at the conference.
