After Litton, Shakib

Joty crosses 2500-run land-mark

Captain Nigar Sultana Joty has reached a new milestone in the history of Bangladesh Women’s cricket. She has become the country’s first female cricketer to cross the 2,500-run mark in T20I cricket.

Joty, who has been one of the Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team’s batting stalwarts for a long time, has now made her name in a special club.

Only three cricketers, both men and women, have scored 2,500 or more runs in T20Is in Bangladesh.

Shakib Al Hasan was the first to achieve this feat. Then, Litton Das joined that list. Now Nigar Sultana Joty, the Captain of the Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team, has taken a place next to them.
Joty has also shown remarkable consistency on the way to reaching the milestone.

She scored 2,500+ runs in 116 innings. Shakib took 122 innings to achieve the same feat, and Litton took 110 innings. Coincidentally, Shakib and Joty both scored half-centuries in this milestone match to help their team win and also won the Player of the Match award.

Mahmudullah Riyad could not even come close to joining this club in Bangladesh Men’s cricket. At the time of ending his T20I career, he had a collection of 2,444 runs. That is, if he could have scored just 56 more runs, he would have reached the milestone of 2,500 runs.

Joty’s dominance in women’s cricket is even clearer in statistics. She is the only one among Bangladeshi Women to have crossed the 2,000-run mark in T20Is.

On the other hand, only Fargana Haque has managed to touch the 1,000-run mark. Currently, as she is not in the T20I team, there is no other batter and who can reach Joty’s unique achievement very quickly.
