Install CCTV to monitor waterlogging during monsoon: CCC Mayor
To keep the city free from waterlogging during the upcoming monsoon, Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain has directed to keep the drainage system clean, install manhole covers and railings and monitor important points of the city through CCTV.
The Mayor gave these instructions at a coordination meeting with the department heads of CCC held at the City Corporation office in Tiger Pass on Monday.
The Mayor instructed the CCC’s chief engineer to identify all the points where waterlogging occurred last year and determine what to do to control waterlogging there this year. If necessary, initiatives should be taken to install pumps in all the places where pumps are required to remove water.
If necessary, 8-10 important points should be brought under CCTV so that the situation of all those places can be monitored during heavy monsoon. Instructing the Chief Revenue Officer to increase the revenue collection of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC), the Mayor said that efforts should be made to ensure that the revenue due to CCC from the port is ensured. In addition, the revenue of all container yards (Of dock) where revenue needs to be determined or re-determined, the revenue should be determined appropriately.
The Mayor directed to collect information on how many flats have been registered in the areas under CCC in the last few years and whether they have come under holding tax. Acting Chief Executive Officer and Secretary of CCC Md. Ashraful Amin and department heads were present in the meeting.
