Prof Dr Khairul new VC of SUST

Professor Dr Md Khairul Islam has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST).

This information was given in a notification signed by Assistant Secretary Md. Shah Alam Siraj from the Science and Technology University Branch of the Secondary and Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education on Saturday.

The notification said that he has been appointed as per Section 11(1) of the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology Act, 1987, with the approval of His Excellency the President and Chancellor.

Professor Dr. Khairul Islam is currently serving as the Head of the Department of Business Administration of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology.

He was also the former Dean of the University’s School of Management and Business Administration.

According to the notification, his tenure as Vice-Chancellor will be for a period of four years from the date of joining or till the date of retirement, whichever is earlier. During his tenure, he will enjoy the same salary and allowances as the original post and other facilities as per the rules.

Besides, the notification also mentions that he will have to be present on the campus round the clock as the Chief Executive Officer of the university.
