Father hopes for justice after PM’s assurance
Abdul Hannan Mollah, father of eight-year-old Ramisa, expressed confidence that justice will be served in his daughter’s murder case, following assurances from the Prime Minister.
Speaking to journalists on Thursday afternoon outside the family graveyard beside their ancestral home in Shialdi village, Ichhapura union, Sirajdikhan upazila, Munshiganj, he said the Prime Minister had visited their Pallabi home and offered his condolences personally.
“The Prime Minister came here as a father and as an elder brother.
I have full faith in the compassion he showed, his tears, and his assurance that justice will be done for my daughter. I believe we will see a fair and speedy trial,” Abdul Hannan said.
He added, “Under the laws of Bangladesh, I expect the highest punishment for the killer.
In my presence, the Prime Minister instructed the law minister to ensure the maximum penalty allowed by law.”
Munshiganj-1 MP Md Abdullah was present during the meeting.
Ramisa, aged eight, was raped and murdered at her Pallabi residence on 19 May.
The main accused, 34-year-old Sohel Rana, along with his wife, has been arrested in connection with the case.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman visited the family home around 9:50pm on Wednesday night to offer condolences and assurance of legal action.
