If I didn’t scream, he would try to rape me: Farin Khan

Small screen actress Farin Khan had a horrific experience in the middle of the night while on her way from Dhaka to Jamalpur to shoot a drama.

The actress has alleged that she was harassed and attempted to rape in the washroom of a petrol pump at around 3:15am on the 13th.

Farin herself confirmed the news in an emotional and heartbreaking post on social media.

In a Facebook post, Farin wrote, “I was going to Jamalpur on the 13th. At approximately 3:15am, I was forced to go to the washroom of a petrol pump.

Within a few minutes of leaving, I felt like someone was standing behind me.

The next moment, I looked up and saw two hands with a ventilator right at my throat.

Maybe if I hadn’t screamed in time, they would have killed me, looted everything and then tried to rape me.”

She said that she bravely faced the situation and wrote, “I came out screaming very bravely and when my driver heard my screams, he came
forward and tried to catch the man, but he ran away.

When I asked the driver, he said that the man was going behind the washroom with many eggshells.

After you entered the washroom, I thought that maybe he was going to throw dirt, so I didn’t say anything. I came out after hearing your screams.”

Farin said, “Despite showing courage on the surface, I know how scared I was inside. The next morning, I shared the matter with many of the shooting unit.

Nothing could have been more awkward than this. I thought, ‘What will happen if I tell anyone?

Maybe Allah saved me that day.’ But only I know how much I suffered mentally, how bad it felt, and how much suppressed pain I felt.”

In Farin’s words, “We, the girls who work outside, know how often we have to suffer from such situations.

But in this country, girls are really not safe. In a country where I am judged by my clothes, in fact, rape-like behavior is only the fault of the girls, who have never been tried in the history of Bangladesh, out of fear that all this will stop.”
