Innovation, technology driving agricultural growth: MP Malique
The Member of Parliament (MP) from Sylhet-3 constituency Mohammad Abdul Malique said agriculture is the key to the country’s national development and progress, where the combination of innovation and technology creates new possibilities. He said these possibilities accelerate national prosperity.
He made the remarks as the chief guest at the inauguration of the three-day Agricultural Technology Fair under the Sylhet Region Agricultural Development Project through Modern Technology at the South Surma Upazila Parishad premises on Thursday.
He added that the current government is committed to supporting the economic development of farmers and the overall development of the country. The display of various agricultural innovations, technologies and new initiatives by entrepreneurs at the agricultural fair plays an important role in national agricultural development.
He said the fair would help promote the use of modern farming methods and increase agricultural production across the country.
He further said the initiative, combining agriculture and technology, would show a new direction for the future agricultural sector.
South Surma Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Emdadul Haque Sharif presided over the programme, while South Surma Upazila Additional Agriculture Officer Dipankar Sutra Dhar moderated it. South Surma Upazila Agriculture Officer Agriculturist Gautam Pal delivered the welcome speech at the beginning of the programme.

Family nutrition gardens, mulching, vegetable and spice cultivation in sacks, the Sarjan method, modern rice cultivation, agricultural consultancy centres, floating-bed vegetable cultivation, mushroom stalls, Mimpex Agro Chemical Limited, Zahid Nursery, Mogla Bazaar and 14 other stalls participated in the fair.
