State Minister warns against unrest over Ramisa murder

Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP Convener and Youth and Sports State Minister Aminul Haque on Friday warned that any attempt to create instability over the murder of schoolgirl Ramisa Akter would face strict resistance.

Speaking at a joint meeting at the BNP’s Pallabi office, Aminul said the party wants the highest punishment, including the death penalty, for those responsible for the killing of the second-grade student in Pallabi.

However, he stressed that justice must be ensured through proper legal procedures rather than through chaos or provocation on the streets.

“A section is trying to exploit the Ramisa murder to create unrest. Their goal is not justice, but instability,” he said.

The BNP leader alleged that vested groups were spreading propaganda and provocative slogans to inflame tensions in different areas.

He also urged party leaders and activists to stay alert against any attempt to create confusion or political unrest, saying no wrongdoer should receive protection regardless of political identity.

Aminul said BNP supports democratic expression and freedom of speech, but warned that strict action would be taken against anyone trying to misuse that freedom to create disorder.

He further called on party members to remain united despite internal differences and stand beside colleagues in times of crisis.

Earlier in the day, Aminul distributed wheelchairs among physically challenged people in the Pallabi and Rupnagar areas.
