Heat safety steps issued for Hajj pilgrims
The Ministry of Religious Affairs has advised Hajj pilgrims to strictly follow heat safety guidelines, urging them to avoid direct sunlight amid rising temperatures in Saudi Arabia.
The advisory, issued in line with instructions from the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, calls on pilgrims to prioritise health precautions during their stay, according to a press release.
Pilgrims have been instructed to rest in shaded areas, use transport whenever possible and avoid walking under direct sunlight during peak heat hours. They have also been advised to carry umbrellas or use head coverings and take shaded routes for movement.
The ministry further urged pilgrims to drink water regularly and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun without protection to prevent heat-related illnesses.
Officials said Bangladesh is working closely with Saudi authorities this year to strengthen awareness and safety measures for Hajj pilgrims.
They added that updated guidance and awareness materials are being shared regularly through the ministry’s official Facebook page and Hajj-related online groups.
