7-year-old Lamisa raped, then beheaded
In a heart-wrenching incident that has shocked the community of Pallabi, Mirpur, a seven-year-old girl named Lamisa was killed in a brutal attack involving the slitting of her throat.
Her grieving family has alleged that the child was raped before being beheaded, accusing a tenant from the neighbouring flat of the atrocity.
The horrific murder is reported to have taken place around 11:00 AM on Tuesday at a residence in B Block, Section 11, within the jurisdiction of the Pallabi Police Station.
The victim, Lamisa, was the beloved daughter of Abdul Hannan Molla, a rickshaw mechanic, and his wife, Parveen, a housewife.
The family, originally from Shiyaldi village in Sirajdikhan Upazila, Munshiganj, resided at House No. 39, Road No. 7.
According to the family’s distressing account, a man named Sohel, aged 32, who rented the flat adjacent to theirs, is responsible for the crime.
Relatives of the deceased claim that the young girl was first subjected to a horrific sexual assault before being brutally murdered.
Sub-Inspector (SI) of Pallabi Police Station, Md. Wahiduzzaman Bhuiyan, provided details regarding the recovery of the body.
“Upon receiving the report, we recovered the child’s slit-throat body from a residence near Millad Camp, Road No. 7, B Block, Section 11, Mirpur.
After completing legal procedures, the body has been sent to the morgue,” he stated.
The incident was initially reported via an emergency call to 999, prompting a rapid response from local law enforcement.
Officers from the Pallabi Police Station arrived at the scene promptly, later assisted by members of the CID and other agencies.
It is believed that Sohel Rana, the suspect from the neighbouring flat, committed the murder sometime between 10:00 AM and 11:30 AM when no one else was home, subsequently fleeing the scene.
In a significant development, police have detained the wife of the suspect, identified as Swapna, and are currently interrogating her.
Authorities have assured the public that intensive efforts are underway to investigate this heinous crime and arrest all those involved.
The legal process regarding this devastating case is currently in motion.
Meanwhile, police have arrested the prime suspect Sohel Rana (34) in connection with the brutal murder of seven-year-old child Ramisa Akter in Pallabi, Dhaka.
He was apprehended from the Fatullah area of Narayanganj on Tuesday evening, police confirmed.
Mostaq Sarkar, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the Mirpur Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, stated that the accused has not yet been interrogated in detail.
He added that a full briefing will be provided to the media once the questioning is complete.
