President returns home
President Mohammed Shahabuddin has returned home after completing follow-up medical examinations and treatment in London, officials said on Monday.
A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight carrying the President landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 10:50am, said his press secretary Sarwar Alam.
He was received at the airport by Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, foreign diplomatic representatives and senior government officials.
The President travelled to London on May 9 for routine follow-up care, where doctors conducted an angiogram at Royal Papworth Hospital in Cambridge and found a significant heart blockage.
He subsequently underwent successful angioplasty with stent placement.
Officials said his condition is now stable and satisfactory.
Earlier in 2023, President Shahabuddin underwent cardiac bypass surgery in Singapore.
