SSC exam held with wrong syllabus in N’ganj
Uncertainty has arisen over the results of 54 SSC students in Araihazar, Narayanganj, after they were allegedly given question papers based on the wrong syllabus during the Business Entrepreneurship exam under the Business Studies group.
The incident took place at the Shambhupura High School examination center in Araihazar Upazila on Thursday (May 14), sparking anger and concern among students and guardians. Upazila Secondary Education Officer Ziaul Haque Milon said the matter is under investigation and that necessary measures will be taken against those found responsible.
Mahmudul Hasan Mridha, secretary of the examination center and headmaster of Shambhupura High School, said the error occurred due to a mistake by the center superintendent.
He added that the education board had already been informed to ensure that the students do not suffer academically. He also stated that action would be taken against those responsible if negligence is proven through an investigation.
According to sources at the center, a total of 254 students from Atadi High School, Jangalia High School, and Kabi Nazrul High School took part in the examination. Among them, 54 students seated in Room 401 were supposed to sit for the exam under the 2026 syllabus. However, due to an apparent mistake, they were given question papers prepared according to the 2025 syllabus.
As a result, the students were forced to answer questions outside their prescribed curriculum.
After the exam, the matter became widely known, creating confusion and tension at the center. Students and parents alleged that negligence by those responsible had put the students’ academic future at risk. They demanded a fair solution and proper evaluation of the affected candidates.
Notably, a similar incident occurred earlier on April 21 at the Omar Ali High School center in Sonargaon, Narayanganj, where 177 students were given the wrong question papers. Later, center secretary Mohiuddin was relieved of his duties over allegations of negligence.
