7 children die from measles

Seven children died from measles and related symptoms in the 24 hours between 8:00am yesterday and 8:00am today, according to the Directorate General of Health Services.

During the same period, 1,212 patients with measles-like symptoms were admitted to hospitals across the country. Of them, 282 were confirmed as measles cases through laboratory tests.

So far this year, at least 58 children have died from confirmed measles infections in Bangladesh. In addition, 285 children have died with symptoms consistent with measles.

DGHS data shows that from 15 March to 8 May, a total of 6,490 measles cases were confirmed through laboratory testing.

According to the latest health bulletin, 46,710 suspected measles cases have been identified nationwide. Of them, 29,152 patients have been discharged after receiving treatment.
