RAB seizes 50,000 yaba tablets in Cox’s Bazar
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) seized 50,000 yaba tablets from a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Ukhia upazila of Cox’s Bazar early Monday.
RAB-15 Assistant Director (Law and Media) A. M. Faruk stated that the drive was conducted based on intelligence reports indicating that drug peddlers were using CNG-powered auto-rickshaws to transport illegal substances.
Acting on a tip-off, RAB personnel took position in Maragachtala area of Balukhali and later set up a checkpoint on the paved road in front of Md. Kaiser’s shop. During the operation, a suspected CNG approached the checkpoint.
Sensing the presence of RAB personnel, the driver and his associates abandoned the vehicle along with a white bag and fled the scene.
Upon searching the bag, RAB recovered 50,000 yaba tablets. The seized narcotics have been handed over to Ukhia Police Station for further legal action.
RAB officials stated that efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend those involved in the incident.
