BGMEA moves to ensure workplace welfare
The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has taken a new step toward workplace welfare by introducing an on-site childcare facility aimed at supporting working parents within the organisation.
BGMEA has launched a day-care centre for the children of its employees at its Uttara complex in Dhaka on Monday.
The facility, named the ‘BGMEA Reazuddin Day-Care Center’ in honour of a pioneer of the RMG sector and the first vice-president of BGMEA, was inaugurated on Monday by BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan.
Senior officials of the association, including the senior vice president, vice presidents, directors, and the acting secretary, were present at the opening ceremony.
Addressing the event, the BGMEA president highlighted that employees remain the backbone of the organisation.
He said the initiative has been designed to ensure a safe and nurturing environment for the children of working parents, enabling staff to focus on their duties without concern.
“The modern facility is equipped with child-friendly amenities, supervised care, and provisions for early learning and recreation. The centre also maintains proper hygiene standards to support the physical and mental well-being of children.”
After the inauguration, BGMEA leaders inspected the facility, including classrooms and recreational spaces.
Employees welcomed the initiative, noting that the presence of an in-house childcare centre would significantly ease their work-life balance and reduce daily stress.
BGMEA officials said the organisation continues to implement welfare-oriented initiatives to promote a more supportive and employee-friendly working environment.
