Arrest for breaking traffic laws

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has further tightened surveillance and punitive measures against traffic law violations on various roads in the capital. Now, if the law is broken, automatic notices are being sent through CCTV camera video footage or still images. If the offender fails to appear or pay the fine within the stipulated time, a summons or arrest warrant will be issued.

On Sunday, the organisation issued a warning public notice signed by DMP Acting Commissioner Md. Sarwar, in which these matters have been elaborated in detail.

The public notice states that measures are being taken to ease traffic congestion, modernise traffic management, and ensure improved civic services. Action is being taken against law-violating vehicles using CCTV cameras installed at various roads and important intersections in the capital along with advanced technology.
