Top terror Titon killed in New Market shooting
Police have confirmed that the person killed in a shooting by armed assailants in Dhaka’s New Market area is listed top terrorist Khandaker Naeem Ahmed Titon.
He was killed in the shooting on Tuesday night. Initially, his identity could not be confirmed. His identity was later confirmed by police through fingerprint examination. Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Ramna Division Deputy Commissioner Masud Alam confirmed the matter.
Titon is the brother-in-law of another listed top terrorist Sanjeedul Islam Imon. Imon married Titon’s younger sister. It is known that he primarily extended his influence in the criminal underworld through Imon’s dominance.
Khandaker Naeem Ahmed alias Titon, who was released on bail from prison in 2024-25, is one of Dhaka’s top terrorists.
He is known as an associate of Pichchi Helal and is accused of being involved in establishing dominance, extortion and attack incidents primarily in the Elephant Road and New Market areas.
It is learned that after being released on bail, he has been in hiding or is a fugitive, having failed to appear before the court.
