Islam can only ensure human rights

Only Islam can only ensure human rights, freedom of speech and justice, Imam Hossain Mohammad Selim, the top leader of the non-political movement Hizbut Towhid.

He made the remarks at a roundtable meeting organized for the senior journalists at a hotel in the capital on Saturday.

Highlighting the current global situation, the Imam of Hizbut-Tawhid said, “A diabolical festival of human rights violations and suppression of freedom of speech is going on around the world. War is being imposed on one Muslim country after another.”

He added, “International organizations, including the United Nations, have failed to bring any remedy of this injustice. They have not been able to protect even the minimum rights of Muslims in Palestine and Myanmar.”

The Imam of Hizbut-Tawhid further said, “Islam is currently presented as a frightening subject. But it is a simple, balanced way of life given by Allah. And only by establishing this system can put to an end the ongoing injustice and unrest.”

He called for the establishment of Allah’s law everywhere, including in the state, judicial, military and economic spheres. He later put forward some proposals, including unity and understanding among Muslim countries and increased dialogue between different religious communities.

The roundtable meeting was attended by Hezbut Towhid Joint General Secretary Rufaydah Panni, Dr. Mahbub Alam Mahfuz and SM Sasmul Huda, DUJ President Mohammad Shahidul Islam, Daily Kalbela Special Correspondent Kabir Hossain, NTV Chief News Editor Fakhrul Alam Khan, former Joint Secretary of the National Press Club Md. Ashraf Ali, Editor of Green Watch Mostafa Kamal Majumder, Executive Editor of Daily Manabzamin Shamimul Haque, Special Correspondent of Bangla Tribune SM Abbas, and Media Communications Editor of Hezbut Towhid Sharmin Sultana Chaiti, among others.
