‘Once Upon a Time in Wari-Bateshwar’ screened at AFD
Rajib Rafi’s short film ‘Once Upon a Time in Wari-Bateshwar’ premiered at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival in France last year.
The film was then screened at the Toronto Multicultural Film Festival and the San Gio Verona Video Festival.
The short film, which has been screened and appreciated on the international stage, now screened in Dhaka and It was organised by Alliance Française de Dhaka (AFD).
It was screened at the Nouvelle Bhag Auditorium of AFD in Dhanmondi on Thursday.
There was a live exchange and discussion session with the audience with director Rajib Rafi after the exhibition.
He talked about the creation process and ideas of the short film..
Director Rafi said that this experimental narrative film is made in the genre of magic realism.
He said, “‘Once Upon a Time in Wari-Bateshwar’ is an experimental film, but its story has a dynamic quality.
It can also be called detective fiction. That’s why I say detective stories are stories about finding missing persons.”
The entire short film was shot using a drone camera. The filmmaker planned to create a magically realistic visual journey between the strange and the terrifying. Cinematography was done by Mazaharul Raju.
The 15-minute short film is jointly produced by Khona Talkies and Cinema Cocoon.
