16 held with sharp weapons in Dhaka

Police, during a special drive, arrested sixteen people along with locally made sharp weapons from the Bhatara area of the capital on Wednesday.

The arrestees were identified as Harun Mia, 25, Saiful Islam, 36, Md Hanif, 26, Hira Mia, 19, Ashique Mia, 24, Md Mobarak, 21, Md Raza, 18,Tofazzal Hossain, 20 Md Rifat, 18, Md Mahsin, 18, Ananda Chandra Sarkar, 18, Riajul Islam, 32, Atash, 42, Jamir Uddin, Ashraful Alam, 43, and Sumon, 36, reports UNB.

During the special drive, a team from Bhatara Police Station and members of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit conducted a drive in the area around 7:05 pm and arrested them along with sharp weapons, said NM Nasir Uddin, deputy police commissioner (media and public relations) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

A process is underway to take legal action against the arrestees, he added.
