Nahid main weapon for Tigers against Kiwis in Chattogram

Bangladesh Cricket team face off New Zealand Cricket team today in the third and final One Day International (ODI) cricket match at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram, the port city of the country.

The match will start at 11:00am (Bangladesh Standard Time). Private satellite sports channel T Sports will telecast the match live. Captain of Bangladesh Cricket team Mehidy Hasan Miraz will lead his time, while Captain of New Zealand Cricket team Tom Latham will lead his side.

Earlier, the Kiwis posted a 26-run victory over Bangladesh Cricket team in the first ODI match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital’s Mirpur on April 17.

The Tigers recorded a massive six-wicket victory over New Zealand Cricket team at the same venue on April 20. Promising pacer Nahid Rana bowled extremely well and played the key role in wrecking the Kiwis’ innings. He completed his superb spell as 10-1-32-5. He was adjudged the Player of the Match for his outstanding bowling performance.

Bafore today’s match, Bangladesh and New Zealand faced each other in 48 ODI games. Of them, Bangladesh registered 12 victories, while New Zealand won in 35 occasions and one match ended without any result.

New Zealand pacer Will O’Rourke praised Nahid Rana in a press conference. Bangladesh Cricket team’s Pace Bowling Coach Shaun Tait’s said on Wednesday ahead of the third ODI in Chittagong today, was all about Nahid Rana.

Although there is already excitement about Nahid Rana, Bangladesh’s Pace Bowling Coach Shaun Tait said, “In modern cricket, especially in T20Is, there is a tendency among fast bowlers to bowl a lot of different types of balls. Talking to Nahid, I felt that he is an intelligent boy. Without making it too complicated at the moment, I think the way he is bowling and what works for him is the best.”
Bangladeshi fast bowler Nahid Rana has variety in the balls he took wickets – a full length for 5 wickets, three bouncers and one yorker. None of the balls he took wickets was at a speed of less than 141 kilometers per hour.

Tait wants Nahid to rely on his pace for now, “He has a slower ball in his arsenal, but if he doesn’t need it, he doesn’t need to use it. While others are forced to change pace, Nahid has a devastating bouncer. Many bowlers who bowl at 130 kmph don’t have that kind of bouncer, so without the slower ball, they have less chance of taking wickets.”
