Alleged sexual abuse in Gulshan Varsity teacher held

Police have arrested a private university teacher in Dhaka’s Gulshan area on allegations of sexually abusing a school-going teenager.

The accused, identified as Moinuddin Chowdhury, was taken into custody on Sunday (April 19), according to Gulshan Police Station Officer-in-Charge Daud Hossain.

Moinuddin Chowdhury is known to work as a corporate trainer and also teach at a private university in the capital. On Sunday (April 19), police from Gulshan Police Station arrested him from his residence in Shahjadpur.

Officer-in-Charge Daud Hossain said he was detained in the morning in connection with a case filed under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act at Gulshan Police Station. He was later produced before a court in the afternoon.

It is known that the victim teenager and his family live in a residence in the Shahjaadpur area under Gulshan Police Station. Moinuddin lives in the adjacent flat. Recently, while the 12-year-old teenager was playing in the building’s playground, the said teacher cunningly called him over and, using various temptations, sexually abused him including bad touch on sensitive parts of his body. He also threatened the boy in various ways to not tell anyone about the incident.
Following this incident, the victim teenager began screaming in fear during his sleep. At one point, family members became aware of the incident. He was subsequently taken to a doctor. In the meantime, the teenager was subjected to abuse by Moinuddin once more.
Following this incident, the victim’s family filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act at Gulshan Police Station.
