If you seen free in TV drama, no one hires you for film: Purnima

There was once a negative perception in Dhallywood about big screen stars working on the small screen.

However, breaking that stereotype, film actress Dilara Hanif Purnima has maintained her popularity by acting in dramas and tele-fictions as well as acting
in movies.

Despite hearing various comments about changing her medium of work in a career spanning more than two decades, the actress remained steadfast in her acting identity.

Purnima’s recently released movie is ‘Ahare Jibon’. Apart from films, she has also worked in dramas, tele-fictions and even OTT at various times in her career. However, she has also had to hear various negative comments along the way.

In a recent interview, Purnima reminisced about the past and said, “Along with films, I also did dramas and tele-fictions at one time.

Back then, many people would tell me, ‘You’re a film heroine, why are you doing dramas? If you see me for free, no one will hire you for films.’”

However, due to such comments, she never believed in narrow thinking about her field of work. Acting is the main thing for her.

In this context, Purnima further said, “Television dramas and tele-fictions are also my comfort zone. I would love to work especially if I get a good story centered around Eid.”

Purnima made her film debut at the age of just 15 with the movie ‘E Jibon Tomar Amar’. She got Ferdous as the lead in her debut movie. After that, she never looked back.

In her long career, she has acted opposite top heroes of the country including Riaz, Manna, Shakib Khan, Rubel and Amin Khan.

The list of popular movies of this heroine, who has acted in more than a hundred films, is also quite long.

Notable among them are – ‘Moner Majhe Tumi’, ‘Ora Amake Bhalo Hote Dilo Na’ and ‘Modhur Milon’.

Purnima won the National Film Award for Best Actress for her performance in the film ‘Ora Amake Bhalo Hete Dilo Na’ directed by Kazi Hayat, which is one of the biggest recognitions of her career.
