Jamaat chief urges adequate treatment for measles-hit children

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer and Opposition Leader Dr. Shafiqur Rahman on Saturday visited Shishu Hospital in the capital’s Shyamoli to see children affected by measles.
During the visit, he spoke with doctors on duty and received updates on the patients’ conditions, said Mujibul Alam, senior assistant publicity secretary of the party’s Central Publicity Department.
Jamaat chief emphasized the importance of ensuring proper and necessary medical care for those suffering from measles.
Rahman also went to a petrol pump near Asad Gate in the capital, where he reviewed the current situation of fuel supply.
He was accompanied by Dhaka-12 MP Saiful Alam Khan Milon, Central Executive Committee member Mobarak Hossain, and Dhaka Metropolitan North Ameer Selim Uddin, among others.
He reiterated that timely medical intervention and access to essential healthcare services are crucial in preventing complications from measles, particularly among children.
He also stressed the need for maintaining adequate hospital facilities and medical supplies to handle such cases effectively.
Highlighting public health awareness, Rahman called on guardians and communities to remain vigilant and seek medical attention promptly if symptoms appear. He noted that collective efforts are necessary to control the spread of infectious diseases.
He further urged the relevant authorities to closely monitor the situation and ensure uninterrupted healthcare support, adding that coordinated initiatives between government bodies and healthcare institutions would help safeguard public health.
