KUET honours 31 teachers with VC Award for high-impact research
Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) has honoured 31 of its teachers with the “Vice-Chancellor Award 2024” in recognition of their publications in high-impact international journals.
The awards were presented on Thursday afternoon at the university auditorium by Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Mashud. The recipients were selected following scrutiny by faculty expert panels and recommendations from the Higher Education and Research Committee (CASR).
Speaking at the event, the VC underscored the central role of research in defining a university’s quality, saying that impactful publications not only reflect individual excellence but also bring prestige to both the institution and the country.

“Research is essential for sustainable development, technological advancement and global competitiveness,” he said, urging faculty members to align their work with real-world needs and focus on innovation and patent development. He also stressed greater student involvement in research to build a knowledge-based society.
The event was attended by deans of various faculties, senior officials and faculty members, with Prof Dr Muhammad Rafiqul Islam, director of the Research and Extension Office, presiding over the function.
