Foundation stone laid for At-Taqwa Maternity Clinic
At-Taqwa Maternity Clinic is being built at a cost of about 2 crore taka under the ‘At-Taqwa’ project initiated by the UK-based charity organization Rukon Development Foundation UK in Balaganj Upazila undwer Sylhet.
The foundation stone of the At-Taqwa Maternity Clinic was laid by Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, Chairman of the International Crimes Tribunal-2 and Chief Advisor of Rukon Development Foundation UK, in Muktarpur (Rugonpur) village of Dewan Bazar Union of Balaganj Upazila of the district on Sunday (April 12) afternoon.
Speaking as the chief guest at the event organized on the occasion at the premises of At-Taqwa Maternity Clinic, Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury said that the great initiative taken by Rukon Development Foundation UK will serve as a beacon for maternal health and child mortality prevention at the rural level. He expressed hope that this clinic will open new horizons in healthcare in Balaganj. He called on all the locals to cooperate with this great initiative of the expatriates.
Chairman of Rukon Development Foundation UK, UK expatriate community leader Ali Ahmed Nesaor presided over the event, while Mohammad Mujibur Rahman Askir, Trustee of Rukon Development Foundation UK, Secretary of the ‘At-Taqwa’ Project Committee and former two-time Mayor of Corby Barah Council, UK, delivered the welcome speech.

Earlier in the afternoon, Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, founder of Rukon Development Foundation UK and General Secretary of At-Taqwa Project, two-time former mayor of Corby Barah Council, UK, Mohammad Mujibur Rahman Aschkir attended the luncheon at his village house in Khagdior, Osmaninagar.
It is to be noted that under the initiative of Rukon Development Foundation, various service institutions including Att-Taqwa Maternity Clinic, Orphanage and Hafiziya Madrasa, Technical Educational Institution and Nurse Institute will be established under the ‘Att-Taqwa’ project on 150 acres of land in Muktarpur (published as Ruganpur) village of Dewan Bazar Union in Balaganj Upazila of Sylhet. Various development works have already been completed under this project at a cost of about 4 crore taka.
