Shooting in Tollywood suspended indefinitely

West Bengal’s artists’ organisations have called for an indefinite shutdown of shooting in protest against the death of Indian actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee and demanding the safety of the artists.
The final decision has been taken to suspend the shooting of all films and serials in Kolkata and its surrounding areas from Tuesday morning.
The announcement came after an emergency meeting of Tollywood stars at Technicians Studio in Kolkata on Sunday evening.
The meeting was attended by senior artists like Prosenjit Chatterjee, Rituparna Sengupta, Jishu Sengupta, Shantilal Mukherjee, Anjana Basu, Rupanjana Mitra and Bidipta Chakraborty.
A group of stars from Tollywood took to the streets on Saturday afternoon to express their anger.
The only question on everyone’s face is why and how did Rahul have to leave so early? An FIR was filed by the Artists’ Forum at the Regent Park Police Station on Saturday afternoon in this incident.
After the meeting, actor Shantilal Mukherjee, on behalf of the Artists’ Forum, told the media, “We have been with Rahul’s family since the beginning and will continue to be. This fight of ours is a fight for life.
We are going out for shooting, but there is no guarantee that we will be able to return home safely.
Rahul has opened our eyes. Therefore, we have decided to observe a strike from Tuesday morning.”
The nearly 4,000-member Artists’ Forum and the 7,000-member Federation of Technicians have expressed solidarity with the strike by artists and technicians.
