4 hotel workers burned
Four employees of Dhaka Regency Hotel and Resort sustained burn injuries after a fire triggered by an electrical short circuit in the capital’s Khilkhet area on Friday.
The injured were identified as Mansur, 32, Abdul Matin, 67, Mahin, 17, and Abdul Jalil, 67.
They were taken to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery for treatment immediately after the incident, reports media.
According to the victims, the fire broke out while repair work was being carried out on an air conditioner at the hotel.
An electrical short circuit during the repair work allegedly sparked the blaze.
National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery Resident Surgeon Shawon Bin Rahman said Mansur sustained 21 per cent burn injuries and has been admitted to the hospital.
The other three victims-Abdul Matin with 5 percent burns, Mahin with 5 per cent burns and Abdul Jalil with 8 per cent burns are currently under observation, he added.
Hotel authorities declined to provide detailed information about the incident.
