India pledges support for stable Bangladesh
Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Pranay Verma, highlighted the deep historical and cultural ties between the two nations, emphasising that the shared sacrifices during Bangladesh’s Liberation War in 1971 continue to unite their peoples.
Speaking at an Iftar hosted by the Indian High Commission in Dhaka on Saturday, he said, “As two vibrant and forward-looking societies, we stand at the threshold of a promising future, working together to foster shared prosperity for our countries and the wider region.”
High Commissioner Verma reaffirmed India’s commitment to supporting a democratic, stable, peaceful, progressive, and inclusive Bangladesh.
The event was attended by ministers, political leaders from ruling party and opposition, journalists, civil society members, and celebrities.
“The presence of esteemed guests at this gathering is a meaningful reaffirmation of our shared commitment to strengthen friendship and cooperation,” he added.
The envoy described Ramadan as a special time of reflection and gratitude.
“Iftar is a moment to come together, appreciate life’s blessings, and think about the well-being of humanity,” he said.
He further said, “It reminds us of the enduring values of compassion, empathy, generosity, and kindness that are central to our faiths and cultures.”
High Commissioner Verma extended his heartfelt wishes to all observing Ramadan in Bangladesh.
“May this blessed month bring health, peace, prosperity, and happiness to you and your families,” the envoy said.
“Let it reinforce our shared values and remind us of our common humanity. May it strengthen our collective resolve to stand together in friendship and solidarity,” he concluded.
