‘Illegal Narsunda constructions to be demolished’

Md. Mazharul Islam MP ( Kishoreganj -Hossionpur) has issued a stern warning against the illegal structures under construction encroaching on the Narsunda River, the lifeblood of the district town. He has given a 48 hours ultimatum, saying that if the structures are not removed within the stipulated time, they will be demolished by the administration.

He visited the site of the incident on Saturday after allegations were made that a structure was being built encroaching on the river in the old Kishoreganj police station area in the town.

Sources said that two people named Humayun Kabir and Maqbul Mia are encroaching on the Narsunda River and constructing a boundary in a part of Kishoreganj town . A photo of this has gone viral on social media.

When the issue drew criticism on social media, newly elected MP Md. Mazharul Islam, along with local administration officials, inspected the area.

Mazharul Islam MP also said, “Narsunda is not just a river, it is part of the emotions, history and economy of the people of Kishoreganj. There is no scope for building any kind of structure by occupying this river.”

All types of illegal encroachments will be removed to protect the natural flow and existence of the river. In addition, initiatives will be taken to keep the water flow active through rapid excavation.
