Readers flock to book stalls

The Ekushey book fair in Bangladesh opened with vibrant celebrations, drawing thousands of enthusiastic readers to the fairgrounds.
The event, organized by the Bangla Academy, has once again transformed the capital into a hub of literary festivity.
The month-long fair, popularly known as the Ekushey Book Fair, was inaugurated with tributes to the martyrs of the Language Movement.
Scholars, writers, and cultural personalities attended the opening ceremony, highlighting the significance of books in preserving the spirit of Ekushey and promoting Bengali literature.
More than 500 stalls have been set up by leading publishing houses and literary organizations from across the country.
A large crowd of students, young readers, and families was seen exploring newly published novels, poetry collections, research works, and children’s books.
Many publishers offered special discounts, attracting eager buyers carrying bags filled with their favorite titles.
Several prominent writers were present at their respective stalls, interacting with readers and signing copies of their latest works.
Cultural programs, discussions, and recitation sessions have been arranged throughout the fair, adding to the festive atmosphere.
Security measures have been strengthened to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for visitors. Food stalls and resting areas have also been arranged for the convenience of the public.
