I’m being targeted for various reasons: Mehazabien

Popular small screen and OTT actress Mehazabien Chowdhury has often been in the news for personal matters. In November last year, an arrest warrant was issued against her for embezzlement and death threats.

Now, Mehazabien is facing criticism after being caught with a bottle of liquor at the airport. However, the actress denied the allegations and said, “I am being targeted for various reasons.”

Recently, various media outlets reported that Mehazabien, her husband, director and producer Adnan Al Rajeev, and producer Shankha Dasgupta returned to Dhaka on flight BS-218 from Bangkok on August 17.

Customs authorities recovered 14 bottles of liquor from their luggage at Shahjalal International Airport.

Although there is a provision for filing a case against them according to the law, the airport authorities kept the matter secret and released them for mysterious reasons.

The report claimed that no bond was even taken from Mehazabien. After the news came out, criticism started on social media. Although she was initially silent, the actress made her statement on Facebook yesterday morning.

She wrote, “For some time now, I have been noticing that I’m being targeted on various issues. Many of you know that a few days ago, I was harassed in a false case. The learned court has acquitted me from that case, the truth has been established.

Just when I have focused on my new work, there is an attempt to defame me again. …Women are the easy targets these days, I don’t know who or what is behind this. I only want to focus on my work; I want my work to be discussed.”
