Human chain held for rooftop solar expansion

A human chain was organized in Monaksha, Shibganj, by the Environment, Surroundings, and Development Forum (ESDF), Chapainawabganj, calling for prioritizing rooftop solar technology in Bangladesh to ensure sustainable energy security, protect the environment, and bring revolutionary transformation to the power sector.

The event took place Thursday at in front of Monaksha Union.

The chief speaker, Roni Roy, Campaign Associate of ESDF, said that conventional electricity generation is costly and places a heavy burden on the national economy. In contrast, rooftop solar provides a clean, accessible, and low-cost solution, yet it does not receive proper policy priority.

He emphasized that rooftops of Union Parishad buildings, schools, homes, and various market structures could be equipped with solar energy, potentially sparking a significant local energy revolution.
