China, Pak, Japan greet PM Tarique Rahman

Chinese Premier Li Qiang, head of the State Council of China, on Tuesday sent a congratulatory message to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on his inauguration as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh.
In his message, Li described China and Bangladesh as close neighbors linked by a long-standing friendship and a Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership.
He noted that diplomatic relations between the two countries were established 51 years ago and said ties have progressed steadily on the basis of mutual respect, equality and mutually beneficial cooperation.
Highlighting the achievements of the past decades, the Chinese premier said Beijing and Dhaka have set a positive example of friendly exchanges and win-win cooperation among developing countries.
He reaffirmed the Chinese government’s support for the new Bangladeshi administration to ensure smooth governance and sustained national development.
Li also expressed his readiness to work closely with Prime Minister Rahman to carry forward the traditional friendship between the two nations.
He underscored the importance of advancing high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road framework and expanding collaboration across various sectors.
Expressing confidence in the future of bilateral relations, Li said joint efforts would elevate the China-Bangladesh Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership to a new level, delivering tangible benefits to the people of both countries.
Meanwhile, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi also congratulated Prime Minister Rahman on assuming office, voicing support for Bangladesh’s democratic progress and reaffirming Tokyo’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties under the existing Strategic Partnership.
In a congratulatory letter sent to Dhaka, Prime Minister Takaichi extended her warm wishes to Rahman and welcomed the continued advancement of democratic efforts in Bangladesh.
She conveyed Japan’s readiness to work closely with the new leadership to further deepen and expand cooperation.
Japan remains one of Bangladesh’s key development partners, with collaboration spanning infrastructure development, economic growth, trade, investment and people-to-people exchanges.
Meanwhile, Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari congratulated Tarique Rahman on “BNP’s decisive victory” in 13th parliamentary poll.
In a message shared on his verified X account on Thursday, he appreciates the interim government’s role in a peaceful, fair election, conveys best wishes for stability and prosperity and hopes for stronger Pakistan and Bangladesh ties and regional peace.
