CA calls national polls, referendum historic opportunity to build new Bangladesh

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today described the ongoing general elections and the referendum as a historic opportunity to build a “new Bangladesh,” calling the day one of the greatest joys and a moment of liberation for the nation.

“Through the process that began today we have completely boycotted the past. We got an opportunity at every step to build a new Bangladesh. Let’s celebrate the birthday of Bangladesh today. Let the whole nation celebrate the festival throughout the day,” he said. News BSS

The Chief Adviser made the remarks after casting his vote at the Gulshan Model School and College polling centre here this morning.

Noting that the transformation would be ensured further through the referendum, he said, “Casting vote for candidates is very important. However, the referendum is equally important”.

He called upon everyone to participate in the referendum to build a new Bangladesh. “It is a day of immense happiness in my life. It is also the day of great joy and a moment of liberation for the people of Bangladesh,” he added.

Referring to the entire process underway, he said this is what defines today’s journey—an end to past nightmares and the beginning of a renewed national framework.

Prof Yunus observed that the people of the country took the day just like a national festival and were celebrating the day like an Eid Day.
