Vote for Jamaat to build corruption free BD: Dr. Shafique

Staff Reporter :

Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman on Sunday called on voters to support his party’s scale symbol to help build a Bangladesh free from corruption, drugs, and extortion.

Addressing a public rally organised by the Jamalpur district unit of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami at the Singhajani Multipurpose High School ground, he described the scale as a symbol of justice.

Dr Shafiqur Rahman said that if Jamaat-e-Islami is given the responsibility to govern the country, it will ensure dignity and respect for women.

He alleged that female campaigners supporting the scale symbol are being harassed and attacked in different areas.

“A nation that fails to respect women cannot progress,” he said, adding that Jamaat seeks to establish a new Bangladesh where justice and dignity are guaranteed for every individual.

Referring to the referendum, he said a victory for “Yes” would mean victory for Bangladesh, while defeat would push the country backward. “‘Yes’ stands for freedom, and ‘No’ represents slavery.

Therefore, I urge everyone to vote for ‘Yes’,” he said.

The rally was chaired by Md Abdus Sattar, Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami’s Jamalpur district unit and candidate for the Jamalpur Sadar-5 constituency.

Among the special guests were Dr Chamiul Haque Farooqui, Central Organising Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami and candidate for Jamalpur-3 (Islampur), GS SM Farhad of the Dhaka University Students’ Union, NCP Joint Member Secretary Lutfar Rahman, along with other central, district, and upazila-level leaders.
