Army Chief visits Khulna ahead of Election

Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman, visited Khulna on Wednesday to assess the overall law and order situation ahead of the upcoming 13th Jatiya Sangsad election and the 2026 referendum, and to inspect the activities of army personnel deployed in aid of the civil authorities.
The visit was conducted as part of the “in aid to the civil power” deployment to support civilian administration in ensuring a peaceful and orderly electoral environment, according to a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
During the visit, the army chief inspected the on-ground operations of deployed troops and provided necessary directives to ensure effective performance of assigned duties. He also exchanged views with officials of the civil administration on coordination and security preparedness.
A coordination meeting was held at the conference room of the Khulna Divisional Commissioner’s office, where the army chief met senior military officers.

Discussions at the meeting focused on inter-agency coordination and overall security management to ensure that the national election is conducted in a peaceful, impartial and credible manner.
The army chief emphasised the importance of professionalism, neutrality, discipline, patience and citizen-friendly conduct while performing election-related duties.
Senior officials from both military and civilian administrations, representatives of law enforcement agencies and members of the media were present at the meeting.
