Muktijoddha Sangsad calls for “Yes” vote
Staff Reporter :
The Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Central Command Council has called upon the people of the country to cast a “Yes” vote in favour of the “July Charter.”
The call was made on Tuesday at a press conference held at the Zahur Hossain Chowdhury Hall of the National Press Club by Bir Muktijoddha Naeem Jahangir, Convenor of the Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Central Command Council.
Addressing the press conference, Naeem Jahangir said that a new journey for Bangladesh began through the student–people’s uprising in July 2024.
This uprising proved that people are the principal driving force in the making of history.
For a long time, the people of the country were denied recognition of this role. This time, the mass uprising has overcome all past obstacles and will ensure the people’s ownership of the Bangladeshi state.
He said that a referendum and the 13th National Parliamentary Election are scheduled to be held on 12 February. In this referendum and election, the Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad calls upon the people to act responsibly and conscientiously.
Highlighting the importance of the July Charter, he said that the July Charter 2025 is a significant milestone in the nation’s history.
The charter has been formulated to ensure rights, justice, democracy, and the security of future generations, as well as to prevent the resurgence of fascism.
He said the core aspirations of the July Charter are to safeguard national sovereignty, ensure public welfare, and build a prosperous and stable system of governance.
Through the implementation of the July Charter, achieving the goals of the Liberation War will become easier. Therefore, casting a “Yes” vote in the upcoming referendum is extremely important.
He further said, “Let this democratic event become a festival of unity for the people, where everyone exercises their voting rights with joy, harmony, and a sense of responsibility. Encourage voters to make the election festive and to vote for candidates of their choice.
Regardless of party affiliation, everyone should take a stand in favour of the July Charter, fulfil their civic duties, and play a role in realising the dream of a beautiful, peaceful, and prosperous Bangladesh.”
