Textbooks distributed among students

On the first day of the New Year in 2026, 80 percent of secondary school students in Fakirhat Upazila under Bagerhat district received new textbooks. In addition, 100 percent new books have been distributed at the primary level.

Students are happy to receive new books. Textbook distribution activities began in their respective educational institutions from 9 am on Thursday.

The book festival was not celebrated this time due to the national mourning day following the death of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

Primary and secondary education officials confirmed the matter. There are 78 primary government schools, 47 secondary schools and a few kindergarten schools in Fakirhat Upazila.

According to sources from the Fakirhat Upazila Secondary Education Department, there was a demand of 1, 66,820 books for secondary general and Dakhil levels this year.

Out of this, 1, 34,220 books have been received. These books were handed over to students on the first day of the year.
