All land port charges hiked, new rates effective from 1st January

The Bangladesh Land Ports Authority (BLPA) has announced a 5 per cent increase in service fees across all land ports, effective from January 1, 2026. The hike applies to taxes, tolls, and other charges associated with each service provided at the ports, aiming to boost revenue and improve port operations.
A separate notification has been issued for Benapole Land Port, where service fees are slightly higher than at other ports. At Benapole, 27 types of services are subject to the new fees. For passengers using the port, the fee has been increased from Tk 49.79 in 2025 to Tk 52.27 in 2026.
Imported buses, trucks, and lorries entering through Benapole will now incur a fee of Tk 184.70, up from Tk 175.90. Fees for motor cars, jeeps, pickups, and three-wheelers have been set at Tk 110.82, while motorcycles and bicycles will be charged Tk 36.95.
Trucks and lorries using the weighing scales at Benapole will pay Tk 88.65. Documentation processing fees have been raised to Tk 195.07, and overnight yard charges for vehicles will now be Tk 111.49. Charges for storing goods in warehouses have also increased proportionally, depending on the duration of storage.
For all other land ports, the service fees have also been raised by 5 per cent. Passengers using these ports will now pay Tk 52.27, up from Tk 49.79 in 2025. Fees for imported buses, trucks, and lorries at ports other than Benapole have increased to Tk 159.22 from Tk 151.64. Motor cars and jeeps will now incur Tk 95.52, while motorcycles, scooters, baby taxis, and three-wheelers will be charged Tk 47.83.
Fees for importing various types of goods have also been adjusted upward, depending on the product category, weight, and duration of storage, ensuring uniformity across all ports.
A BLPA official told that, as in previous years, service fees have been increased to maintain revenue for the ports and support infrastructure development. “The new fees will come into effect from January 1, 2026. Service charges are the primary source of income for land ports, which are crucial for trade and commerce in Bangladesh,” the official added.
