According to district police sources, in July–August 2024, taking advantage of a period of disorder, coordinated attacks were carried out on several police facilities in Narayanganj district. Some criminals, entering under the guise of protesters, looted large quantities of weapons and ammunition from the District Police Lines, Siddhirganj Police Station, Araihazar Police Station, Gopaldi Police Investigation Center, and Kalapaharia Police Investigation Center. At that time, criminals broke into multiple district police armories and looted a total of 151 firearms of various types along with 9,025 rounds of ammunition. The looted weapons included seven types of firearms of different calibers, Chinese rifles, SMGs (submachine guns), LMGs (light machine guns), pistols, shotguns, and rifles—many of them modern firearms. From the District Police Lines alone, 78 firearms and nearly 5,000 rounds of ammunition were taken. Many of these weapons were fully functional, and some had been stored for use in case investigations or special operations.
