Dhaka Bank unveils dual-currency prepaid card for youth

Dhaka Bank PLC, in collaboration with Mastercard, has launched the country’s first youth-focused dual-currency prepaid card, branded as “Spark”.
The launch ceremony was held at a hotel in Gulshan last week
Designed to empower digitally active young consumers, the Spark card combines advanced financial features with premium lifestyle benefits in travel, dining, education, fashion, and technology, both in Bangladesh and abroad.
The card is intended to complement the dynamic lifestyle and global aspirations of young users by offering seamless digital payment options alongside exclusive privileges, according to a press release.
The event was attended by Md Mostaque Ahmed, Deputy Managing Director of Dhaka Bank; H M Mostafizur Rahaman, Senior Executive Vice-President and Head of Retail Business Division; Professor Dr Abdur Rab, Vice-Chancellor of IUBAT; Professor Dr Saiful Islam, Vice-Chancellor of AIUB; Professor Daniel W Lund, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Independent University Bangladesh; Dr Ahmed Tazmeen, Registrar of North South University; Professor Sarwar Uddin Ahmed, Dean of ULAB School of Business; Gautam Aggarwal, President – South Asia, Mastercard; Syed Mohammad Kamal, Country Manager of Mastercard Bangladesh; and Zakia Sultana, Director, Mastercard Bangladesh; along with senior officials of both organisations. More than one hundred students from seven private universities attended.
The ceremony also featured a panel discussion with student representatives from these universities on the theme “Digital Inclusion for the Youth of Bangladesh”, focusing on challenges and opportunities in the country’s evolving digital ecosystem, education financing, and secure financial innovation.

This reflects Dhaka Bank’s commitment to expanding financial access and enhancing lifestyle convenience for the next generation.”
