CEMS-Global, in partnership with GIZ Bangladesh, organised the flagship Conference on Innovations and Partnerships for Sustainable Energy Transition on Saturday at Hall 5 (Pushpanjali) of the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in Dhaka.

The full-day event brought together policymakers, development partners, financial institutions, and private-sector leaders to explore ways to advance Bangladesh’s transition toward a low-carbon and energy-efficient future. The conference was held alongside the 27th Power Bangladesh International Expo, the 22nd Solar Bangladesh International Expo, and the 7th Dhaka International Lighting Expo the country’s largest platform for showcasing renewable energy, power generation, and next-generation lighting technologies.

Germany’s long-standing cooperation with Bangladesh featured prominently during the conference. Through GIZ Bangladesh, Germany continues to support renewable energy expansion, grid integration, energy efficiency, e-mobility, and green skills development, strengthening the country’s clean energy ecosystem.

The partnership reflects a shared vision of leveraging innovation, capacity building, and policy dialogue to accelerate Bangladesh’s transition to a sustainable, inclusive, and climate-resilient energy future.

The conference included four thematic sessions. The morning session on Green Cooling, Renewable Energy, and Energy Efficiency highlighted solutions to curb emissions and improve industrial energy management. The second session focused on Green Skills Development, with representatives from the World Bank, BRAC, and ILO emphasising the importance of industry-aligned training programs for a green workforce. The afternoon sessions covered Rooftop Solar Expansion, exploring private-sector participation to scale solar adoption, and Corporate Power Purchase Agreements (CPPAs), which were discussed as tools for industries to access reliable, cost-effective clean electricity.

Participants stressed the need for stronger collaboration among government agencies, development partners, and the private sector to accelerate Bangladesh’s green transition. CEMS-Global and GIZ Bangladesh reaffirmed their commitment to fostering innovation, strengthening institutional capacity, and supporting policy dialogue to build a cleaner, more resilient, and inclusive energy landscape in the country.
