Tarique hails Shahidul’s role

BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has lauded renowned photojournalist and human rights defender Shahidul Alam for joining the Global Sumud Flotilla, a humanitarian mission aimed at breaking the blockade on war-torn Gaza.

In a Facebook post, Tarique Rahman wrote: “Shahidul Alam’s courageous decision to step aboard the Gaza flotilla is more than solidarity-it is a thunderous voice of conscience. By carrying the Bangladeshi flag, he reminds the world of our nation’s values: a people who never yield to oppression or injustice. BNP stands firmly with him and with the people of Palestine, now and forever.”

On Saturday, just hours after Shahidul’s boat was intercepted, Tarique shared the statement, reaffirming BNP’s backing of the activist.
Shahidul has become the first Bangladeshi to join the Freedom Flotilla Coalition’s (FFC) Media Flotilla, an initiative to challenge the information blackout in Gaza.
