Upcoming polls will be far from easy Tarique

Staff Reporter :

BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman on Monday called on the interim government to leave unsettled political disputes to the judgment of the people.

He noted that while parties have reached agreement on certain matters, significant divisions still remain. In such cases, he argued, the government should present its policies and ideals openly before the nation and allow citizens to decide through their vote.

Addressing the biennial conference of Thakurgaon district BNP virtually, Tarique stressed that until Bangladesh is restored to a genuine democratic path-despite conspiracies and obstacles-every leader and activist of the BNP will remain vigilant and dedicated to re-establishing democratic rule.

He pledged that if BNP is entrusted with power in the next election, it would devote itself to building a Bangladesh shaped by the aspirations of its people.

Expressing gratitude, Tarique said BNP has been able to grow to its present strength only because of the people’s trust and support. He also commended party leaders and workers for taking BNP’s message directly to the grassroots.

At the same time, he warned that attempts may be made to derail the democratic process. He urged party members to stay alert to such threats, cautioning that the upcoming election will be far from easy. Safeguarding democracy, he added, is essential to prevent anarchy or the return of dictatorship.

The BNP leader further drew attention to urgent national challenges, including rising unemployment and the hardships faced by women, and called upon all political forces to offer practical solutions.

Reflecting on the nation’s history, Tarique recalled that Bangladesh’s independence was won through immense sacrifice, and despite repeated conspiracies, the people’s determination has always upheld the country’s democratic journey.
