DUCSU Polls: Shibir declares 36-point manifesto

Mohiuddin Khan, Assistant General Secretary (AGS) candidate of ‘OIkkoboddho Shikkharthi Jot’ led by Islami Chhatra Shibir, announces a 36-point manifesto on behalf of his panel ahead of 2025 ‘Dhaka University Central Students Union’ polls at a press conference in front of the university’s DUCSU building on Monday.
The Remarkable points are Including DUCSU in the academic calendar, to free DU from fascists, ensuring a legal seat for every student from the first year, ensuring safe and healthy food, preparing a menu of nutritious food at low cost through nutritionists in the halls and other canteens-cafeterias and test the quality of food every 3 months, ensure safe transportation for female students, Relax restrictions on entry into student halls for female students, arranging maternity leave for female students, employing female employees in the common room, establishing a paperless registrar building by eliminating the service-oriented red tape of the university’s administrative building, improving the DUCSU website and ensuring ‘Access to Resources’ through the app and increasing transparency, making the teacher evaluation system more effective and introducing a ‘mentorship program’ on the model of advanced universities and establishing e-libraries and computer centers in every faculty, Conducting research-related workshops with students, expanding the Central Library, Science Library, Hall Library and Reading Room and Departmental Seminar Rooms, organizing workshops on soft skill development. Organizing job fairs on campus along with seminars and workshops on higher education and career.
Increasing the scope of mental health care and counseling services, improving the quality of healthcare by modernizing the University Medical Center and services and making healthcare more accessible by launching the DUMC app and providing female doctors, introducing indomitable merit scholarships for physically challenged students, upgrading the Institute of Modern Languages to global standards and hiring at least one foreign teacher on a contractual basis in each language and establishing a Language Research Center and Implementing a zero tolerance policy to prevent sexual harassment and cyber-bullying. Strengthening the sexual harassment complaint cell and providing legal assistance, establish a legal help desk by including all administrative officers and lawyers from all over the country to ensure the safety and legal support of university students, ensuring classrooms and academic activities suitable for physically challenged students.
To ensure special arrangements in the washroom for them, organizing self-defense training for female students, arrange training for employees in the halls and to introduce an employee evaluation system and working towards the development of the own culture of the people of this region to combat cultural and intellectual hegemony.
