BAEC gets new chairman

Distinguished nuclear scientist Dr. Md. Mazibur Rahman has been appointed as the chairman (current charge) of the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC), according to a BAEC press release referencing a government notification issued on Monday.

Prior to his appointment as chairman, he was serving as a member (Biology) of the commission. He has also served for many years as the Director of the International Relations Department and as the National Liaison Officer (NLO) of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Dr. Md. Mazibur Rahman earned his PhD from the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium in 2003 and pursued postdoctoral research as an Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH) Research Fellow at Friedrich-Schiller-University in Jena, Germany in 2008.

He has authored over 50 research articles published in various national and international scientific journals. Professionally, he has traveled to more than 20 countries, including Belgium, Germany, Austria, France, Spain, the USA, the UK, Russia, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, and Thailand.
