JKKNIU students demand Public Administration’s inclusion in Education Cadre

JKKNIU Correspondent:
Students of the Public Administration and Governance Studies department at Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University (JKKNIU) have staged a human chain demanding that their discipline be included in the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) Education Cadre.
The protest was held on Wednesday  at the foot of the Nazrul Sculpture on campus, with about hundred students and teachers participating. They carried placards reading “NTRCA open the door for Public Administration” and “Studying Public Administration leads nowhere.”
Speakers at the event alleged that although the subject is taught at 14 public universities, graduates are deprived of opportunities to teach at the school or college level and receive no special consideration in the BCS Administration Cadre.
Assistant Professor Tanzil Ahmed said Public Administration graduates are capable of teaching Civics in schools and Political Science in colleges, and urged the government to accept this “logical demand.”
Associate Professor Azizur Rahman also expressed solidarity with the movement.
